Christian Baptism.
Baptism is a symbol of our union with Christ. It is a symbol of the forgiveness of our sins and to our reception of salvation through Jesus by the Holy Spirit. It is by immersion in water and is contingent on an affirmation of faith in Jesus and evidence of repentance of sin. It follows instruction in the Holy Scriptures and acceptance of scriptural teachings by following the example of Jesus in baptism who was baptized by John the Baptist. It is the testimony to the world you have put your trust and faith in God being accepted by the Heavenly Father through Jesus as a new believer.
John told his disciples in Matthew 3:11, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
The ceremony of Baptism:
Before the new believer goes under the water, the one baptizing will declare.
____________, Upon your profession of faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in obedience to our Lord’s command, I baptize you my new brother/sister in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
(As they go under the water)
Buried in the likeness of our savior Jesus and raised to walk in the newness of life. Amen.
(After they come up out of the water but it is not required. Just a blessing. )
By your testimony may your new life in Christ be a light to bring others to Jesus (Yeshua).
May you go from here to walk in the spirit fulfilling the fruits of the spirit, separated from the world, studying God’s word and having fellowship with the Father through prayer.
May you fulfill God’s purpose for your life by spreading the gospel of Jesus and following his commandments of love.
May the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you in your spiritual walk with Christ, to comfort you and convict you in the fruits of righteousness and the gifts of the spirit, giving utterance to the Father on your behalf.
May God’s hands be upon you and keep you and may His blessings be upon your life as you do His perfect will.
God bless you my new brother/sister ________________.
Welcome to the family of God.
Amen.
